Shoulder & Elbow Conditions Dr. Aggarwal Treats

Chronic shoulder pain limiting overhead movement or sleep
Shoulder arthritis combined with a torn or non-functioning rotator cuff
Elbow pain and stiffness from advanced arthritis
Complex fractures of the shoulder or elbow in older patients
Loss of shoulder function after a previous failed surgery
Reduced grip strength or elbow motion affecting daily tasks

Matching the Procedure to the Damage

A standard total shoulder replacement works well when the rotator cuff tendons are intact and functioning. When the rotator cuff is torn beyond repair — common in older patients with long-standing shoulder arthritis — a reverse shoulder replacement changes the mechanics of the joint so that the deltoid muscle, rather than the damaged rotator cuff, powers arm movement. Dr. Aggarwal assesses cuff integrity and joint damage on imaging to determine which approach will give the most durable, functional result.

Elbow Replacement

For advanced elbow arthritis or complex fractures where fixation isn’t viable, elbow replacement restores motion and relieves pain that has stopped responding to conservative treatment.
